CULTURE SHIFTERS PANEL

Womxn of color are often culture shifters in their organizations. In bold and subtle ways, womxn of color change the work landscape, to ensure that all identities are welcome and thrive. We’ll hear from a panel of womxn of color who aren’t simply getting a seat at the table in their respective industries, but are creating their own tables, cultivating their own spaces, and forging untraditional paths within traditional institutions.

Panelists include: Brittany Chavez (Shop Latinx), Angelina Howard (Amazon), Shivani Berry (Ascend), Elizabeth Marengo (Nestlé), Sherysse Morris (Seattle Department of Transportation) & moderated by Kim Flanery Rye (MyKimisims).

11:00 AM

DECOLONIZING WEALTH FOR WOMXN OF COLOR FIRESIDE CHAT WITH MANDELA SH DIXON, CEO & FOUNDER OF FOUNDER GYM

Across all demographic groups, the racial wealth gap makes it harder for womxn of color in the United States to rise in their careers and experience socio-economic mobility. Black womxn will earn up to $1 million less than white families in their lifetimes on average. At the same time, womxn of color across all sectors are starting more businesses than ever, and using their entrepreneurial skills to generate unprecedented value for companies. Together, womxn of color leaders are poised to slash the racial wealth gap — learn more from experts on how to build generational wealth.

Interviewed by Angelica Garcia (Merrill Lynch).

12:00 PM

WINNING ALLIES PANEL

Winning allies and champions is critical to the success of a womxn of color. At the same time, it is necessary for allies who hold more privilege, to share their platform with others who face societal biases. We’ll explore a spectrum from allyship to advocacy to co-conspiring - so attendees can find champions in the community and at work to accelerate career advancement.

Panelists include: Tim Salau aka Mr. Future of Work, Michael LeFever (Concentric), Phoenix T. Johnson (Seattle Womxn’s March), Cynthia Tee (Nordstrom), Naomi Gonzalez (TomboyX), and moderated by Rebekah Bastain (OwnTrail).
